These newborns which are about 3 inches smaller than an average cabbage patch doll look lovely in their new dresses. Ellie is the one with the straight tuft of hair and Jasmine with the curly.
I think they make a great pair of twins and have a mischevious look in their eyes.
They both date from the 90’s and have been looked after really well compared to some ive bought.
I am really pleased with how she has scrubbed up. She had a thorough soaking and scrub, her hair was washed, her face gently cleaned and her new dress was given a wash too. Now i reckon she looks a right picture.
This little lady is in bad need of tlc. She is in a terrible condition. As she is a crimp n curl by Hasbro, dated 1991 her hair is waxed for making styling easy, so i dont know how easy cleaning it is going to be. I will try with some mild detergent, i dont want to strip the wax but it is so knotted and dirty i cant avoid it. Think she will take a bit of work but she has no major damage.
Ill add an ‘after’ pic when she is done
I have now bought a total of 4 little ladies from eBay plus some undies and an outfit. 3 of them are naked though so have also foolishly bought a Butterick pattern to make clothes for them. Now I have in the past made rag dolls and clothes for them which came out okay but i am not very good with anything too fancy these days as i lack the patience to try to understand the pattern and even to see it without getting new glasses.
Ill continue to search eBay for cheap clothes before i begin down the homemade route.
Look what arrived in the post today!!
She is dated 1985 on her bottom but her label has been torn out at some point in time. She is very grubby and her clothes are even worse. Her gorgeous flame red hair is in need of a wash too, so will set to work sprucing her up with some much needed TLC until she looks a million dollars.
She is wearing 2 sets of clothes and a hand knitted jumper. I am hoping the clothes will not disintegrate after a gentle hand wash, after all she is 26 years old.
I have just won an auction on eBay for a 1995 cabbage patch kid, it has an open mouth a for a dummy or pacifier as they call them in USA. The dummy is missing but im sure i can find one somewhere on ebay.
I also bought a 1980’s Mattel cabbage patch doll yesterday also on eBay. I made an offer thinking i would be considered cheeky but they counter offered with a price i could not refuse so snapped her up.
Pics will follow when they arrive, and i cant wait.
I became introduced to cabbage patch dolls last Sunday (6th November) when i was wandering around a local bootfair and came across a stall selling 4 of them. I have no idea why they grabbed my attention like they did but i suddenly found myself asking about them then buying two of them.
When i got home i did some research and found that one of the dolls was not a CPK at all which was annoying and the other one has the Xavier Roberts signature in black on the RIGHT bottom cheek instead of the more common left cheek. I have searched the net but cant find if this means its a fake of some kind or a rarity (more likely a fake i would imagine)
It also has a label stating its made by Play Along Toys and the latest date is 2004.
Along with the signature being on the wrong side the head mold details are slightly missing due to the holes for the hair cutting them off which also makes me feel like she may be a fake.
Having done such a lot of research on them has made me become something of an addict about them to the extent that i have bought a Jesmar doll from ebay and have 4 more auction bids in too. I still want to find them at bootfairs though, that is the biggest buzz i can imagine. I wish i had bought all four of them last week now. Who knows, maybe they might be there next week.
